NFL roundup: Denver Broncos win Super Bowl rematch with Seattle Seahawks

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Thursday night's NFL pre-season games.

The Denver Broncos edged out the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl rematch in the pre-season clash at Sports Authority Field.

John Fox's side took the lead in the first quarter thanks to a one-yard run from Ronnie Hillman, but the Seahawks responded with a touchdown from Christine Michael and a Steven Hauschka field goal.

Both teams made several changes in the second half and Broncos backup quarterback Brock Osweiler managed to guide his side to the win as he engineered a late drive to find wide receiver Jordan Norwood in the endzone with a 34-yard strike.

The New York Jets recorded a narrow 13-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts in their match at MetLife Stadium.

After the two sides traded field goals in the first quarter, the Colts took the lead when Matt Hasselbeck fired a 12-yard touchdown pass to running back Daniel Herron, but Chris Johnson levelled the scores with a one-yard run.

Rex Ryan's men sealed their win with a last-minute field goal in the fourth quarter as kicker Andrew Furney nailed a 51-yard effort through the posts.

The Baltimore Ravens got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers at M&T Bank Stadium.

Bernard Pierce scored a first-quarter touchdown to hand his side the lead with a two-yard run after Phil Dawson had given the 49ers a three-point advantage with a 25-yard field goal.

Justin Tucker fired three unanswered field goals through the posts before Tyrod Taylor sealed the win when he found Jeremy Butler in the endzone for a seven-yard touchdown.

The Washington Redskins inflicted a heavy 23-6 defeat on the New England Patriots as Bill Belichick opted to rest the majority of his starters at FedEx Field.

A 10-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Aldrick Robinson and two field goals from Kai Forbath and Zach Hocker gave Jay Gruden's men a comfortable lead at the break.

Colt McCoy's strike to Ted Bolser extended their lead along with another field goal from Hocker, until the Patriots finally got on the board in the fourth quarter when Jimmy Garoppolo found Brian Tyms in the endzone.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals played out an entertaining clash in their pre-season matchup as Andy Reid's men won the contest 41-39.

The Chiefs held the lead after the first quarter as a punt from DeAnthony Thomas and an interception from Sean Smith were both returned for touchdowns, which cancelled out Brandon Tate's earlier score for the Bengals.

An interception return from Dre Kirkpatrick and a score from Dane Sanzenbacher brought Marvin Lewis's men back into the game, but the Chiefs rallied through Travis Kelce and Malcolm Bronson.

James Wright brought the Bengals back into the game, but Reid's side took an unassailable lead when Cyrus Gray went into the endzone with a two-yard run to seal his side's win, despite a late score from Conner Vernon.

The San Diego Chargers cruised to a comfortable win over the Dallas Cowboys in their meeting at Qualcomm Stadium.

Brandon Weeden fired a touchdown strike to tight end James Hanna but the Chargers responded as Branden Oliver ran in for a 16-yard score, while Nick Novak kicked a 24-yard field goal through the posts.

Mike McCoy's men went further ahead in the third quarter when Kellen Clemens fired a 70-yard strike to Dontrelle Inman and Kerwynn Williams ran in for a one-yard score. Novak sealed the win in the fourth with a 44-yard field goal.

Results in full: Seattle Seahawks 16-21 Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers 3-23 Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts 10-13 New York Jets, New England Patriots 6-23 Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals 39-41 Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys 7-27 San Diego Chargers.
