Peyton Manning hoping history isn't repeated on Sunday

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning says that he is prepared for any sort of game with the San Diego Chargers this weekend.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has stated that no two games are ever the same, as he looks ahead to his team's clash with the San Diego Chargers this weekend.

When the two sides met during the regular season in December, the Chargers held possession for over two thirds of the game to claim a 27-20 win, which reignited their playoff hopes in the AFC West.

However, Manning has claimed that San Diego will find it hard to keep the ball for so long again this time around, something which was so important in that previous match.

He told reporters: "You never know how a game is going to play out. Just because something happened the previous game, or two games, doesn't mean it's going to happen again. And so you prepare for the game plan, but you go out, you have to be ready to adjust to a shootout, to a low-scoring game, whatever it may be.

"You certainly see lots of different types of games here in the postseason. I've always believed that. It's going to be a team effort. All three phases are going to need to contribute – offense, defense and special teams. That is what we're working on getting ready for right now."

Sunday's match will be Manning's 21st playoff game of his career, and with 177 passing yards he can leapfrog both Joe Montana and Brett Favre into second spot in most post-season yards of all time.
