The Denver Broncos suspend two executives from their posts within the team following arrests for drink-driving offences.

The Denver Broncos have announced that they have suspended two of the team's executives.

Director of pro scouting Matt Russell and pro personnel director Tom Heckert were both recently arrested for driving under the influence offences.

A statement from the team said: "The Broncos will support Matt and Tom during their suspensions and beyond as necessary. They will be provided with treatment resources as needed in the form of education, counselling and other rehabilitation programs.

"Specifics of their treatment will be kept confidential due to the personal nature of these matters. Both will be monitored closely to ensure compliance and will be thoroughly evaluated before any potential return to employment with the Denver Broncos."

Vice-president of football operations John Elway added: "It's particularly disappointing that two members of my staff acted so irresponsibly. Simply put, it's unacceptable and inexcusable."

Heckert's suspension will last for one month, while Russell is suspended indefinitely.
