Henry Melton admits that Rod Marinelli was a big reason behind his decision to join the Dallas Cowboys.

New Dallas Cowboys signing Henry Melton has admitted that the club's defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli was a big reason behind his decision to join the club.

Melton said that he could not say exactly what happened in the negotiations between him and the Cowboys, but was appreciative that Marinelli has a strong interest in the person as well as the player.

"I can't even tell you what his recruiting techniques were," Melton told the club's official website. "But it worked.

"He's a great guy. That's why I'm excited to play for him, because he genuinely cares about you as a person, not just what you can do for him on the field. Of course he cares about that, but he actually does care about you off the field, and you have a genuinely good sense about that about him."

Melton previously worked with Marinelli when they were both with the Chicago Bears.
