Report: Cleveland Browns ask for Josh McDaniels interview

The Cleveland Browns reportedly ask permission from the New England Patriots to interview Josh McDaniels for their vacant head coach's position after the firing of Rob Chudzinski.

The Cleveland Browns have asked permission from the New England Patriots to interview offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for their vacant head coach's position.

McDaniels has impressed throughout his time during the NFL helping the Patriots become one of the best offensive teams in the league during his two spells with the club.

Browns general manager Mike Lombardi has a good relationship with the 37-year-old due to his friendship with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and he has outlined McDaniels as the number one candidate to replace Rob Chudzinski, reports Cleveland.com.

However, Cleveland also want to interview Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

McDaniels has previous head coaching experience with the Denver Broncos whom he led to an 8-8 season in the 2009 campaign, but was fired a year later after starting 2010 with a 3-9 record.
