Brian Hoyer "excited" by Cleveland Browns start

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer says that he is excited to start against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.

Brian Hoyer has said that he is "excited" at the prospect of starting the Cleveland Browns' game against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.

The quarterback, who spent last season with the Arizona Cardinals, will replace Brandon Weeden, who has a sprained thumb.

The 27-year-old, who grew up in Cleveland, told the team's official website: "This is the opportunity you practise for, you prepare for, and obviously, I'm excited. I'm going to try to take advantage of it and give this team everything I've got to help us get that first win.

"When you dream of playing in the professional league, you dream of playing for your hometown team. Obviously, that will be something special, but really, now, it's down to the business of preparing. Right now, I'm just focused on doing what I can to prepare and beat Minnesota.

"Every time you go out, you're putting your resume on the line. Football is football. Sometimes, you get more advantages. It just depends week-in and week-out. This week, I will get a full week of practice. I will study Minnesota and that will definitely be a big help."

The Browns have lost both of their games so far this season.
