Jason Avant signs one-year deal with Carolina Panthers

Free agent wide receiver Jason Avant signs a one-year deal with Carolina Panthers after his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles came to an end after the 2013 season.

The Carolina Panthers have confirmed that they have signed former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant on a one-year deal.

The Panthers needed to bolster their options in their receiving corps after wideouts Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell and Ted Ginn all left the club during the off-season.

"We are happy to have Jason with the Panthers," head coach Ron Rivera told the club's official website. "He provides a versatile player at receiver and brings good size as well as experience to the position."

The 30-year-old recorded 38 receptions for 447 yards along with two touchdowns in the 2013 season.
