Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is adamant that head coach Mike Smith will not be sacked by the team despite their poor season.

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has insisted that head coach Mike Smith will not be sacked despite his side's poor season.

The Falcons dropped to 2-7 in their campaign following their defeat to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, just months removed from playing in the NFC Championship game.

"Mike Smith is a hell of a football coach; he's the leader of this team," Dimitroff told ESPN. "Mike's going nowhere."

Smith has been with the Falcons since the 2008 season and has a 58-31 record with the team.
